At the start of a new year, we are choosing the posture that shapes every other pursuit. James tells us, "Submit yourselves to God, resist the enemy, and he will flee. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." These words are not simply instruction, they are an invitation.

This January, Destiny Church is beginning a 21-day fast called James478. For twenty one days, we will humble ourselves, realign our desires, silence the noise, and seek the presence of God with focus. As we submit to Him, we believe the nearness of God will rise in fresh and unmistakable ways.

Join us as we set the first twenty one days apart for prayer, Scripture, worship, community, and consecration. Come expectant. Come ready. Come hungry for Him.

Complete Fast

A complete fast is when you refrain from all food and drink only water. Some also include natural juices. This type of fast requires wisdom, preparation, and awareness of your health.

Selective Fast

A selective fast limits certain foods or categories of foods. Examples include a Daniel style fast with vegetables, fruits, grains, and water, or removing sugar, meat, caffeine, or processed foods. This fast helps create space for focus and simplicity and teaches the heart to choose what is better over what is convenient.

Partial Fast

A partial fast involves fasting during specific times of the day. Many choose to skip one or two meals or fast from sunrise to sunset. This fast creates daily rhythms of dependence and intentionality. It is a reminder that every hour is an opportunity to draw near to God.
